The BSPD National Study Day 2026 took place on Friday 18 September 2026 at The Milner York, and Janet and Michael Pickles were there on the R A Medical stand. It was a great show — busy, friendly and full of good conversations, with lots of interest in the Silhouette breathing system and our Super Smellies scent pens.
This year's theme was “Caring for Complexity: Clinical Challenges, Workforce Solutions”, reflecting the link between outgoing President Dr Oosh Devalia's presidential-year focus on caring for children with medical complexities and the focus on workforce solutions of the incoming President, Dr Rachael Nichol, whom the Society welcomed at the event.
The programme covered managing complex clinical cases and medical complexities in children, alongside shaping the future of the paediatric dentistry workforce — with sessions on workforce planning, dental trauma, biologics and training developments. The day rounded off with the traditional post-study-day evening gathering over pizza — a good chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones.
As always, the stand was the highlight for us: the Silhouette breathing system drew a steady stream of questions, and the Super Smellies pens proved just as popular with the younger visitors. R A Medical has sponsored the BSPD Clinical Case Prize since 2003, and supporting events like this one remains a highlight of our year. Thanks to everyone who stopped by — see you next year.
